Urban Mobility Insights Issue #4 – New York City
Urban Mobility Insights is an ongoing report published by Urban Engines using our space-time engine to analyze open data feeds and find interesting trends that give insight into how people move about their cities. In this issue of Urban Mobility Insights, we analyze open data from New York City taxicab trips in 2014 and 2013 to glean some fun insights into New Yorkers’ behavior.
This report is a sequel to our December issue, in which we explored holiday trends in New York City using the taxi data. The rich New York city taxi data set offers ample opportunity to investigate travel patterns from different segments of the city’s population, based on their taxi usage.
In Urban Mobility Insights — Spotlight: New York City, we looked at some interesting questions to kick off the year — which gym should I pick if I want to stick with my New Year’s resolutions, how does Valentine’s Day affect taxi trends, and who tips more — tech or financial industry employees?
